Malcolm
began climbing, kayaking, and skiing in 1970, developing personal
skills whilst studying for a degree in geology and environmental science
and later a teaching qualification. Several seasons of Scottish ice climbing,
alpine mountaineering in France and Switzerland, white water kayaking
in the U.K and France were undertaken before beginning his professional
instructor experience with the The National Mountain Centre, Plas Y Brenin
in the late 1970s.
Arriving in Australia in 1981, he worked as an outdoor education lecturer
at tertiary institutions, as an adventure guide(sea kayaking, skiing,
rafting, climbing)in Australia, as a mountain and ski guide(Mt.Cook) in
New Zealand and as an outdoor education teacher in schools. As well as
professional instruction, he has three decades experience of summer and
winter climbing and skiing in Europe, New Zealand and North America; climbing
in the Karakoram Himalaya, Pakistan, the Garwhal Himalaya and Kashmir,
India; sea kayaking the Fiordland coast of New Zealand, the west coast
of Scotland and much of the coast of SE Australia; river kayaking and
rafting from the Herbert in Queensland to the Franklin in Tasmania. After
a two month solo expedition exploring the coasts of British Columbia and
Alaska by sea kayak, purchase of a 34ft yacht based in Vancouver, has
allowed further exploration of this area by sea kayak and yacht.
Malcolm is an Australian Canoeing(level 3)and British Canoe Federation
Senior Instructor and has Marine Board qualifications for charter boats.
A member of the New Zealand Mountain Guides Association with summer and
winter guides training, professional avalanche and British Mountain Leadership
Certificates, Malcolm has worked as a Field Training Officer for the Australian
Antarctic Division at Casey Station. He has Full Registration with the
Victorian Institute of Teaching.

Spindrift
International Guiding began as vehicle for introducing clients to climbing,
rafting, ski touring and sea kayaking in the early 1980s.
The emergence
of Wilsons Prom Sea Kayaking and marine and mountain training reflect
the company's expansion and diversification into other recreational pursuits.
Wilsons Prom Sea Kayaking was established to facilitate skill development
and provide sea touring opportunities available in the beautiful yet challenging
environment of Wilsons Promontory and Corner Inlet.
